The Bittersweet Side To Spring

Here's What I am Going To Miss

Sigh...Mommy and Daddy cleaned out the fireplace real good.  Then they put away the tools.  You know what that means, no more fires in the fireplace for a gazillion sleeps.  I love the fireplace.  I is a wonderful place to snooze by.  It gets my furs very warm and I can sleep at the end of the sofa near Mommy. I dream of chasing fake mousies and eating shrimp, and all sorts of secret kitty things.  And now, it's done.  Gone.  Cleaned out.  Bye-bye winter.  I'll miss you!

But!  Mommy reminded me that now I get more back porch time!  And sun!  And bird and squirrel watching!  And warm breezes to sniff!  And maybe, just maybe, a few supervised strolls in the backyard!  Maybe Springtime isn't a bad thing after all!

Maybe I'll even see a real live peep! (yum!)

Welcome Springtime!

I "Heart" The Kitty Blogosphere

I am so overwhelmed about how nice the kitties in the blogosphere are!  All of the comments were so encouraging and so nice that it made my little kitty heart swell with happiness.  Me and Mommy read all of the comments and Mommy made links to all of our new friends!  It's going to be fun to visit with everyone!  Many of you have blogs that I have read for a long time, but as I said in some of my comments, it's just been in the last month or so that I have found my "voice."  Mommy says she has an awful lot to learn about blogging, but I told her to just get busy!  So, with that said, we have some questions for you experienced cats.

  1. Is this smaller font a better idea?  We notice a lot of people use a smaller font than us.
  2. Does ANYONE else out there use Blog.com?  So far, we aren't too happy with it, but we already paid for it. How hard would it be to move our stuff to another place?  We think Blog.com doesn't do what it should (like let Mommy put a photo on my blog from her photos in her computer - grrrrrr!).
  3. Those codes for things like Thursday 13?  Is that hard to add to our blog if we want to do it?
  4. Is there anywhere that sells tuna flavored ice cream? Laughing Hi Daisy!

Thanks again for the warm welcome yesterday - you kitties really are cool!

Keep you tails held high and your fake mousies close!

Hi Everykitty! Happy Wednesday! Nice To Meetcha'!

It's been so much fun meeting new kitties in the blogosphere that it makes my tail quiver!  The nice kitties over at the cat blogosphere even introduced me today!  So I thought for today's post I would tell you a little about my favorite subject - ME!

  • I'm terribly cute.  Really.  I can make people who claim they don't like kitties go "awwwww."
  • I am a (spayed) girl.  I enjoy being a girl.  My Mommy and Daddy gave me a name that makes it hard for people to know if I'm a boy or a girl.  I'm lucky I don't suffer from gender confusion!
  • My eyes are one of my best features. One is blue and the other is green.  Cool, eh?
  • I live in the middle of the United States.  I don't know what that means and I really don't care where I live as long as Mommy and Daddy are there.  I stay indoors.
  • I used to be a feral kitty.  I like the life I live waaaaaay better now.
  • I share Mommy and Daddy with 3 other kitties and a D.O.G.  This was not my choice, but they can be O.K. at times. All my brothers and sisters are rescues.  We are a "humbler beginnings" family.
  • I am very food motivated and I am a fakemouseaholic.  I am told there is no cure for the fakemouseaholic part.  That's alright by me.
  • I can "High Five" for a treat.  It's the only trick I am willing to do.  Period.
  • I am famous around these parts for my "Paw of Death."  Just ask the D.O.G. about it.
  • I really enjoy reading everykitties blogs.  I hope you enjoy mine!
  • Mommy is a blogging newbie and it's fun to watch her frustration as she tries to get Blog.com to do things it says it will do, than doesn't.  She uses bad words sometimes because of this.

Thank you for visiting.  I hope to get to know all of you much better over time.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Parker

My Addiction

Hi, my name is Parker and I'm a fakemouseaholic.  I dream of them.  I keep a secret stash of them.  I sleep with them.  I steal them from my brothers and sisters.  They say admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery, right? (but I really don't want to recover...)

Meet My Sister Puff

Yup, I know, she's a real looker.  I hear it all the time.  Puff is my older sister, she is the "Original Cat" in my family.  Her job is to look gorgeous 24-7.  She's very good at her job as you can see.  She purrs so loudly that you can hear her across a room. Puff started life as a barn cat with our other sister, Powder.  I don't think she was cut out for barn life, so it's a good thing that Mommy and Daddy got her out of there at a young age.  She's going to be nine years old on April Fool's Day.  Puff was named for the kitty in the first grade books Mommy learned to read from.  How many of you are old enough to remember those books? "See Spot.  See Spot Run." There was Puff, Spot, Sally, Dick and Jane.  Mommy doesn't think those books are used in school anymore cause it was about a squillion years ago when Mommy was in first grade!  But I digress,  Puff can be a pain in my tail at times, but she's my sister and I love her more than tuna juice (and trust me, that's a lot!).  More about the rest of my family in later posts.

The Paw Of Death

I think I look pretty non-threatening here, wouldn't you agree?  But, seconds later, after the D.O.G. thought he could move me from the side of my beloved Daddy (we were playing "kitty-tent" in bed), I had to show him my "Paw Of Death," Mommy would have snapped a photo of that, but it is too swift for a mere camera.  Let's just say that the D.O.G. is no longer enjoying the Downey-fresh scent of our sheets.

A More Serious Side To Parker

My Mommy wants to take over for an entry, she has something to share and I told her it would be OK - like I have a choice! I have no thumbs, and she's a better speller than I am, plus there are treats for me involved. So anyway - go ahead Mommy....
Hi, Parker's Mom here. I just felt compelled to say a few things after all of the sad news I have been reading on the kitty blogosphere today. Kitties crossing the bridge, kitties preparing to cross the bridge and kitties who need homes. Some days are worse than others and today is one of the "worse" days. Without going into tedious detail, I am a 40-something woman who has always loved cats. Even when I was allergic. Yes, allergic. For 19 years. I finally outgrew, got over, built an immunity, whatever - but the good news was that I was no longer allergic. Enter T-Gray, my first true kitty love. Given as a halloween present to me by a good friend in college, little kitten T-Gray would be my best friend, confidant, bed warmer, traveling companion and all around good guy for 20 + years. Helping him across the bridge was as hard as losing some of my human family members. He outlived many a relationship, lived in 3 states & 7 homes, and never...not once, complained (even on a plane ride or three). As long as he had me and I had him, life was good. I was blessed with a "perfect" first cat. 10 + years later, I still miss him. He also taught me how to say good-bye with grace and love. I have had to do that two other times - once with a kitty, Payton, and another, with a beloved dog - Jordan. Anyway, back to my point - losing a pet... it hurts...a lot... and for a long time. And I just want to tell you readers out there that if you read about a kitty crossing the bridge, or getting close to the bridge, let them know that you have them in your thoughts. It means something to them and their people.
I imagine in the future I may horn in on Parker's space again, (but truth be told, she's a softie about letting me have my way :) ).
Thanks for letting me say what was in my heart.
